Richard's Peace Treaty With Ex-Pat Brits in Tunisia
I see you all there, hiding in the corners,
You're like an army of well suntanned stalkers.
You keep coming to see if I’ve given more offence
To that fine African nation that gave the world the Fez.
Or is that Morocco? I really can't be certain.
I do know it's where Judy bought kitchen curtains.
Well, no more shall I insult good old Tunisia
I’ve got bigger nations to fry, like Bulgaria.
I insulted you with a little tale that was mostly fiction,
Some fact, but wrapped in my immaculate diction.
But now I'm happy that you kept on coming by.
The Guardian lot didn't, nor did Stephen Fry.
Our suntanned smiles are brimming with glee
We’re all so happy in Tuniseee
And chatting on Marmite with Melanie
You have to revisit for more than two days
To see the real country and all of its ways
The natives are friendly and can’t do enough
For those tourists whose French is just a bit rough
We’d make you real welcome – marhabah bik
And feed Judy with couscous with some for you Dick
We’d teach you to belly dance – dance Arabic
And thank you so much ‘barrakallowfick’
No brown paper bags - we won’t hide away
We’ll make sure you have the most wonderful stay
We’ll take you to souks and savour mint tea
And show you that we are really friendly
So let us know when you would like to return
To the land we all love, where we sunbathe and burn
We’ll meet you on board the hot air balloon
And hope it stays tethered, not go to the moon!
