NO MARMITE IN TUNISIA

Katrina our resident teen in Tunisia has sent us this report from a fantastic night out in Hammamet Yasmine Marina! 

Hammamet Yasmine on a Saturday night in July is simply teaming with life!  The restaurants are bursting at the seams, the promenades and beaches are full, everybody is having the time of their lives, both locals and holidaymakers, making the most of the glorious, summer temperatures, eating, dancing or partying outdoors!

Saturday 26th July 2008 was no exception!  Mum sent me tickets, booked over the internet from England for a 'concert and a half' in the marina featuring Santa Esmerelda, The Abba UK Tribute group (Oh, how I miss the UK....Boots the Chemist especially, I go to sleep dreaming about this shop!) as well as Boney M (this long, tall thin man, who kept going on about how he was from a banana plantation in the Caribbean, but he was really "happy and easy, man," just like the Tunisians, not like those "stressy Europeans!")  And if you could make it through the queues stretching for miles to get into the resort (it took us over an hour!) the biggest treat of the night for me was The Gibson Brothers!

All of these acts are really from my Dad's era, but the place was packed with all age groups, Tunisians and tourists alike, enjoying hits such as Dancing Queen, from the Abba Tribute group, Daddy Cool from Boney M or Que Sera from the Gibson Brothers!  I was even invited on stage with a few others to dance along to the hit song Cuba with the Gibson Brothers!

For just under £12 each, I thought this was excellent value for money, especially with the great DJ who had everybody partying long after we left at about 2 in the morning!
