Hi my fiance is from tunisia and we will marry next year, i was hoping that we could live in uk after but having gone into all the things we need to do and the expense of it all im not sure this will happen, so another option for us is for me to move there but i couldnt live where he is now as nobody speaks english so he would have to relocate to another town in tunisia where there is english spoken i know sousse has lots of english speaking people but can anyone tell me of anwhere else in tunisia that english is spoken a lot ?

would realy appreciate any advice you can give :)

Hi Heather. The places that have the most expats are Sousse/Port El Kantaoui and Hammamet. Other locations have English expats but not as many. Im moving to Kantaoui next month yey :)  .  Good luck in picking somewhere

I've just moved to Tunisia to be with my husband (he's Tunisian and i'm English) most of his family don't speak English and I don't speak Arabic but i wouldn't dream of asking him to move away to suit me instead I am trying to learn his language. If your Fiance had moved to England would u expect him to ask u to move to an area in England where Arabic was spoken ?!!!!!

Hi i understand what your saying, please tell me how your settling in there, i met someone who also moved there and she said that you learn to adapt as im sure you do, my fiance wont rent he says you dont have rights like in uk, so we must wait until he has built his own house like his brothers have done before they married, and the reason i wanted to go somewhere there was english speaking was that maybe i could have found work, tunisia is a beautiful country with some of the most welcoming people i have ever met, hope your settling in

I thoroughly recommend mixing with expats at first as you settle in, just until you get to know the real Tunisia, and the culture of the people which can sometimes be very different to the British!

However, don't make the mistake of thinking that all Brits stick together!  Even though you are abroad, you can still find bad apples and those intent on sowing discord amongst expat groups!

Find a place that you are happy to live in whether there are expats there or not, because also remember, that people come and go, you make many friends and sometimes they move on!

I agree with Melanie - Its not always a good thing to move to an area where there are expats!  Tunisia is a lovely place - but living here is not the same as being on holiday.
