A Day Out At Aquaflipper

"It's Nearly The End Of The Summer Mum!"
After a year of comments such as "Dad promised he would take us last year, and he didn't!", or "It's nearly the end of the summer Mum!", I finally decided that as it was the last weekend in August, if I wanted any peace of mind, I would need to pay a visit to Hammamet's Aqua Park.

After standing waiting an hour for a bus, and the bus driver cheerfully waving at my kids and driving on without stopping,  I began to think "I hope all of this is worth it!"

I decided to use this opportunity to write a report on the water park for the website and as I didn't see my children for dust until the sun was nearly setting, I guess you could call it an unqualified success!

Discount
As the summer season is nearly at a close, we thankfully encountered no queues and the prices were exactly as quoted on the company's website which meant we received the 30% discount for printing out a page from it.  We arrived exactly at lunchtime and had the choice of two different snack type bars offering such things as crepes, sandwiches, chips, etc or an A La Carte restaurant.  There were also various stalls around selling nuts, or popcorn.  Prices for food and beverages were as expected, higher than your local village or beach cafe, but on a par with other establishments in tourist areas.

It seemed that if you wanted a sunlounger and parasol you needed to get there early as upon our arrival there wasn't a spare one to be seen.  Prices for these were quoted as 2 dinars, but after finding one later in the day, I found that there was nobody there, jingling a bag full of coins waiting to pounce on me as you often find on the beaches!

Health And Safety Good
The park was clean and tidy and well maintained and there seemed to be plenty of staff/lifeguards actively watching the larger slides to make sure no accidents occurred, which was just as well as I had spent a whole day beforehand imagining all sorts of scenarios occurring where I could not keep my eyes on all of my children at once!  The depth of the water in each pool was never too deep, which meant I could breathe a huge sigh of relief, let my elder children run wild, and even take a dip myself, a rare occurrence for someone with their hands full most of the time with two of my children under five!

Plenty To Do
The park is situated right next to the beach and a row of tourist/souvenir shops (beware prices in these are double to what you would pay in your local Monoprix!), but as there seemed to be plenty for the children to do and the atmosphere was very lively with even a mini discoteque encouraging children, teenagers and adults alike to boogie away, we didn't feel the need to put a stamp on our hands to enable us to go outside the park and re-enter.

How To Get There
No need to pay out for a taxi to take you there, just catch the bus running on the main Hammamet to Nabeul route, tell the driver that you would like the get off near the Aqua Park and he will stop at the nearest road to it, which would then just leave you with a short 2 minute walk.

Conclusion
Good value for money and your children will love you forever!
